“Northern Lights Gospel
Mission”
Erin Weaver
16, high school student
The imagery of
this
banner is the old waterfront building which used to be the Northern
Lights Gospel Mission. Today it is the Waterfront Lodge. I
also included the Mission plane and a fisherman in the banner.
Impact North, or Northern Lights Gospel Mission has a very rich
history. Irwin Schantz started the mission in 1953 with two other men,
along with their brave wives and children. There are many great
stories from our veteran missionaries. The waterfront building
was the original headquarters. Now it is behind the Saan Store.

The only
reason
I am up in the Red Lake district is
because my dad works for Impact North. The Mission is a big part
of my
life. My relationship with God is also important, so I thought I should
show some history of God’s people in Red Lake.
The
Red Lake Regional Heritage Centre is a charitable organization, funded
by the
Municipality of Red Lake and the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture
and Recreation. Reg # 87315 2714 RR001
