“Griffith Mine Site”

the
remains of the old Griffith Mine structures and the natural vegetation
and rocks that now surround it. These remnants are important to the history of the Red Lake District because they are a reminder of the iron ore mining that took place on the site from the mid 1960’s to 1986. The Griffith Mine site is significant because not only does it provide a habitat for local flora and fauna, but it is also widely used as a recreational area that the whole family may enjoy. |
