Red Lake, Ontario, February 26, 2008 - From July 4-6, 2008, Red Lake (pop. 5000) will host the Red Lake Woodland Arts Festival: A Tribute to Norval Morrisseau and the Woodland Artists. The festival will take visitors on a special journey as they discover the untold story of the artist’s life, from 1959 when he arrived in Red Lake to work as a miner, to when he left the area around 1973, the father of seven children and internationally famous as the founder of the Woodland School of Art......... TO READ MORE CLICK HERE

Art Fair Package

A major component of the Festival if the Anishinaabe Art Fair which would be held at the Red Lake District High School gymnasium Saturday July 5th from noon - 4:00pm.

If you are an artist and would like to exhibit and sell your work at the Art Fair you may apply on-line or by mail.
Deadline for applications is Friday May 16th 2008

About the Festival Committee


The Heritage Centre is the lead organization for this project, and the Red Lake Woodland Arts Festival Committee, which is a sub-committee of the Red Lake Regional Heritage Centre's Board of Directors, is organizing the festival. The Festival Committee is composed of 12 individuals, including both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people who represent various sectors, including the arts community, the schools, municipal council, local tourism organizations, and the Heritage Centre. All decisions regarding programming, the selection of presenting artists and the budget, are made by the Committee.
