Heritage Centre Funding Update

To-date, the Heritage Centre has raised $2.9 million towards the development of the project. The funds came from:

Federal Grants:
$ 1.340 million - includes $850,000 from the Department of Canadian Heritage for capital costs, exhibit design, education programs, and special equipment, and $500,000 from FedNor for capital costs.

Provincial Grants:
$ 730,000 - includes $230,000 from the Ministry of Natural Resources and $500,000 from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.

Fund Raising:
$ 550,000 - includes $250,000 from Goldcorp; $250,000 from Rob McEwen; and $50,000 from the Donor Wall. Other cash donations ($5,000 and over), came from CIBC, Parkwest Projects, Corbett Cibinel Architects and Rupert Resources Ltd.

Municipal Contribution:
In lieu of a cash contribution, the Municipality of Red Lake donated significant staff time towards the project. They also donated the land, prepared the site, and installed the sewer and water connection to the building. The Municipality started landscaping the site over the summer months.
